August phoenix arizona car rentals 20th 2012 I awake at 3:50 thanks to my alarm and my plan of a few Vodka and cokes to help me get to sleep early, worked like a charm. I gather my things and head to the kitchen to find that it is closed. After a quick word with reception I manage to get it open and gather up my last few things. The bus arrives at 4:40 to take me to the airport and I am on my way again. The airport is very busy and due to my early arrival I spend my time milling round the airport and updating my car and computer knowledge in the news agents. After a small delay I am on my way and thanks to a nice man in the checkout desk I have a seat by the wing which means lots of leg room and the chance to fall asleep. I take the chance and the flight is dispensed with quickly. phoenix arizona car rentals I manage to catch a transfer bus as soon as I exit the airport and due to my hostel being near the end of the bus route I get a free bus tour of Darwin. I arrive at the hostel to find it is not as bad as what I was expecting. phoenix arizona car rentals Due to the heat I am already sweating and am very glad the room has air conditioning. I grab lunch and head out on a walking tour recommended by my lonely planet book. I m surprised by Darwin as it seems quite lively and due to many reasons reminds me of Cairns phoenix arizona car rentals where it all began. I find myself thinking that it is a shame that I can t have a few more days here but maybe it is better to be left wanting more than being ready to leave. I also think about how this is the last time I will be in the proper Australian heat and sun. A quick dinner and I am ready for bed. I find a Tasmanian in the room who said the temp change phoenix arizona car rentals that I will experience with the next set of trips I have planned will be a beautiful let down. I get the feeling that he will be right. We also talk about the story in the northern territory times paper which details how a local man stuck a fire cracker up his arse to try and show his friends a good time and some Darwin charm. I also hear of a man slipping on Kimberley tour and nearly breaking his back. This is the tour that I wanted to go on but couldn't due to financial reasons. I m very glad I didn t go.
The tour starts early (as they all do) and I struggle to exit the room without waking the other sleepers. Forgetting my watch doesn't help with the matter phoenix arizona car rentals either. I climb aboard the 4 x 4 when it arrives and say my hello's to the people already on board. I am the last but one pick up and we head to the next pick up point. Here four more people get on and it is obvious they all know each other. The group turns out to be like minded individuals who I get on with very well. The first stop on the tour is a Croc cruise. I have seen Crocs in a Zoo but nothing could prepare me for seeing them in this environment. The Crocs are close enough to tighten the old cheeks or loosen them as the case may be and we are given a warning about not putting our hands outside phoenix arizona car rentals the boat. The guide also makes a joke about Logodiles or crocodiles but we are lucky enough to see more of the latter than the former. The Crocs here are the biggest species in the world with ones up to 6m long and according to the guide could eat an alligator for breakfast. He also tells us that over 3m is classed as a man eater. The tour ends with a feeding of the local birds. After the tour we have a quick beer stop and a stop for firewood and it's time to put that beer to good use as its lunch time. After we visit the Wetlands at Mamukala we take a walk around Anbangbang to have a look at some of the Aboriginal phoenix arizona car rentals paintings. The day concludes with a stop at Nourlangie phoenix arizona car rentals Rock which is a good lookout for the local area. We have a quick stop for Ice cream and then it is on to Yellow Water for the sunset and a chance to be eaten by Mozzi s. After we head down one of the roughest roads I have been on and make camp for the night. We get the tent set up after some trouble and it's time to start drinking properly. Ahh Heaven!
I awake somewhat groggy and am very glad to find that the camp site has running hot water. A quick shower followed by breakfast and I'm ready to face the day. First stop is Twin falls. We have a trek up a medium hill and then walk around the local area. We stop for a dip in the river upstream and spend an hour or so taking it easy before heading back. A quick lunch and then it is time to head to Jim Jim Falls which we call Tim Tam. This time the walk to the falls has no hills to climb but the path gets worse the longer we trek for and in the end we are climbing over boulders to reach our destination. The effort is worth it though and we are rewarded with a spectacular view and spectacular pool. Here the sound echoes around the rocks and the sound from the waterfall seems to come from all directions. Due to the pool being in the shade the water is freezing but I jump in never the less and experience the water. After we have the same trek in reverse and then it is time for a Sunset phoenix arizona car rentals with a beer. We have another night round the camp fire and this time the guide treats us to a Didgeridoo lesson. We finish off the remaining alcohol and then hit the hay for the night.
The day starts at 6:30 after another thrilling round of snoring phoenix arizona car rentals factor where contestants try and snore the loudest. phoenix arizona car rentals The joint winners are the two people I am sharing my tent with. Now that people on the tour know each other a bit better we have a sing song in the 4 x 4 while heading to our next destination. We arrive at Yellow River/Maguck and have a small walk before we arrive at another natural pool. We spend an hour here and then it is time to set off back to Darwin. On the way we pass termite mounds bigger than myself and we are told that only a third of the mound is above ground. We arrive back in Darwin and some members of the tour are kind enough to invite me back to their rented phoenix arizona car rentals flat after hearing my story of how I have a 7 hour wait till I fly and no shower. We share a few drinks and dinner as well and I am lucky enough to wash not only myself but some of my clothes for which I am very grateful. I also get a rare shot of a red moon from their balcony. After a slight confusion with the airport transfer address I am away to the airport for a 01:15 departure. I manage to get a few hours sleep on the plain which is followed by a 3 hour stop in Bris Vegas followed phoenix arizona car rentals by a plain to Hobart with more sleeping. When landing in Hobart I notice that the land scape is completely different to where I was 24 hours ago. Instead of brown and red it is now all green and it seems a bit similar to home. The change in temperature also helps maintain the illusion. I grab some sleep in the hostel and then head out for a quick walk about and a KFC, Yum.
The next day I take the ferry to the Mona museum which is a very odd place and confirms that I know nothing about art. I also do the walking tour recommended in the lonely planet guide and see sections of Hobart that reminds me of the North England. Another quiet night (I am on a budget) and it is time for the final Australia tour and also my final week in Australia.
It s cold, very cold and I am standing outside the hostel phoenix arizona car rentals waiting for the bus. It arrives 20 minutes late (no worries) and transports me and the others members of the tour to the local bus company called Tassie link. They hand me an itinerary and tell us that we will be getting the bus and to get off at the first stop in Launceston. The journey takes about two and a half hours and we arrive phoenix arizona car rentals at the hostel which is also cold. The manager tells us that the heating comes on at 7 and goes off at 5. We grab dinner and a drink in a local Irish bar and chill at the hostel for the remainder of the evening.
My alarm wakes me and it's cold. Dam the manager and his turning the heating off at 5. I dress quickly, smash breakfast and am ready for the bus when it arrives. Today we head to Craddle Mountain. The bus stops at the town of Sheffield and I hop off to find that it is even colder here than it was in Launceston. I buy some classic winter food of chocolate and when heading back to the bus see a sign on the visitor centre saying don t go to cradle phoenix arizona car rentals mountain, but are guide seems to pay this no mind we push on. We arrive and I once more find myself in a winter wonder phoenix arizona car rentals land although this time I am not so prepared. This proves to be a major problem as my feet are soaked and freezing due to me wearing my running trainers. They have small holes in which are great when running but a nightmare when walking in snow and slush. My walk ends 20 minutes in as my feet are soaking and I make the decision to call it short as my feet are stinging from the cold painfully. This means that I have a lovely 2 hour wait in the bus. On the way back we call in at a raspberry devoted cafe. The day is a bust but a few beers and a pizza brings it round to ok.
The next day we rise at 6:30 and head to Cataract Gorge. The walk is nice but the rain is a pain. Luckily we have some new people on the bus who provide some entertainment. After the walk is done we drive through Derby and end up in a place called phoenix arizona car rentals Pub in the Paddock, bet you can't guess why? Here we have a swift half and our introduced to a beer drinking pig. After we have seen piggles party trick we head onto St Columba falls and have lunch with the falls as a backdrop. Then we move onto the holy cow café where we try different cheeses and the sun comes out briefly. We hit the road once more and the sun stays with us and for the Bay of Fires and as a consequence it is picture perfect. We head down onto the beach and have a strole. Next we head to Cosey Corner and we clamber over the rocks to get a good look at the coast line. A quick stop at St Helens for food and then it is on to our overnight stop off in Bicheno. We hea
