Fares on direct flights for many of Delta s popular routes have ballooned this year.  I have seen the cost of a typical ticket, on the same flights I have flown for years, go up anywhere from 30-80% per flight in the last 12 months!
Flying is tough enough when you consider the battle at the gate to get on the plane first, nickel and dime fees for everything, cramped regional planes, cranky flight attendants, etc . All of which is manageable hale koa hotel hawaii when airfares hale koa hotel hawaii are low, but when you are asked to pay anywhere from $600-$1,200 for a domestic, short haul flight, it is unbearable.
Worse yet, most companies (including mine) have policies against booking a flight at these price points. hale koa hotel hawaii Resulting in every road warriors worst nightmare .. booking connecting flights, when there is a direct option right in front of you.
Connecting flights introduce a huge amount risk to your arrival time and I try to avoid them at all costs, but lately I haven t had a choice .  Until recently, when I learned to leverage my Delta Status and Expedia.
I recently have been using the Same Day Travel Benefit feature (available to everyone with Gold, Platinum or Diamond status) with Delta to help me book lower priced, connecting fares and then switch to a direct flight at no additional cost. Here is how to do it:
request a change hale koa hotel hawaii to your itinerary and be confirmed at no extra charge on an earlier or later Delta or Delta Connection® flight on the same day as ticketed. Your request must be within three hours of the scheduled departure of the new requested flight.
The key to this is to find a connecting flight that arrives at roughly the same time as a direct Delta flight and book it.  The challenge here is that Delta doesn t really show you these fares on their website booking engine.  I actually have to go to Expedia to get the discounted connecting fares.
