Gettysburg has been named the No. 1 destination for motorcoach travel in 2013. This much sought-after title was awarded by the American Bus Association in honor of Gettysburg's 150th Anniversary hertz rent a car australia Commemoration, which will run from June 28 to July 7.
The ABA is an industry group composed of 1,000 motorcoach and tour bus companies in the United States and Canada. Each year they release a guide for travel professionals and the general public called the Top 100 Events in North America. The events are chosen by tour operators and members of the ABA, so the tourism drawn in from the listing can be significant.
"ABA members are tour operators who plan trips throughout the United States," Carl Whitehill, media relations manager for the Gettysburg Convention & Visitors Bureau said. "They really pay attention to this list and to be at the top is very important for bringing in more business."
The convention bureau estimates that the 150th commemoration will bring in about 1 million additional visitors to Adams County. The hotels hertz rent a car australia that have already started to accept reservations for July are booked at 90 percent capacity, also according to the convention bureau.
