Add your Skymile number to your Expedia profile. After I book a flight on Expedia, I will go to my
If you are a business traveler, you need to make the most of every business purchase car rental and las vegas you make, whether car rental and las vegas it is your entertainment spend or your travel spend. The best way to do that is to always make sure you are maximizing the miles and points you earn from every flight, hotel or car rental you pay for (or your company pays for).
Here is a way to get four different types of miles/points with every airline ticket car rental and las vegas you purchase from Delta (this approach is really geared to travelers that fly on a paid ticket at least once per month it will still work if you don t buy a ticket very often but will take you quite a while to get the benefit)
When you buy your ticket this way, that same ticket that would normally just get frequent flyer miles, will now earn Delta Frequent car rental and las vegas Flyer Miles and Delta SkyBonus car rental and las vegas Points which can be used for more free flight PLUS Expedia Rewards Points and Chase Ultimate Rewards Points which can be used for free hotel nights.
When you book a flight through Expedia you will still earn all of your airline frequent flyer miles, in this case Delta Skymiles. Expedia (and the other Online Travel Agents) removed the fee they used to charge to book flights, so there is now no penalty in terms of either car rental and las vegas cost or miles to use Expedia for your Delta flight.
You will get 1 Expedia Rewards Point per $2 spent on airfare. You will not get any points when you book a car on Expedia, unless you book it at the same time as your airfare, in which case you will get 2 points per $1 spent for the package . This is up to 4x the value of booking your airfare alone, so I would recommend booking the car and flight together if you can.
Expedia Rewards car rental and las vegas points can be redeemed car rental and las vegas for either flights or hotels. One of the nice features of this is that you will not have to wait until you have the full amount to pay for a hotel room (you do for a flight though), you can get hotel coupons starting at 7,000 Rewards Points to apply against the cost of a room. Another benefit here is that you can use the points to stay at boutique hotels like The James or Public Chicago where you otherwise might not be able to use points for a free night (when they are booked through Expedia).
This is Delta s Small Business Program. The SkyBonus program allows you to earn Skybonus points on top of the frequent flyer miles you earn with your ticket. It is meant for small to medium businesses who aren t big enough for a preferred travel agreement with Delta.
All you need to apply for the SkyBonus program is a Federal Tax ID. Many people have this for a side business they operate and if you don t, you can set one up for about $25 per year on your states .gov website (I did not use a service like LegalZoom (although you can), since you can do it yourself for the base fee charged by the state which is much cheaper)
You can also take your SkyBonus number and add it to the Delta profile of your family members (or friends for that matter) so that you can earn SkyBonus points on all of their paid tickets. To do this, go to the Manage my Account section of the Delta website, the select Manage Profile, then go down to the Additional Information section and add the SkyBonus number to the profile. This way any time you or they book a flight on the Delta website it will automatically add your SkyBonus number to the ticket and award you with the SkyBonus points.
If you book the flight through Expedia, your SkyBonus points car rental and las vegas will not automatically show up, so you will need to manually add the ticket number to your SkyBonus Account. This will take less than a minute to do. Log on to your SkyBonus Account, go to the Add Tickets section, under the Your SkyBonus tab and enter the ticket number is the appropriate field (below is a screen shot to help you out).
Either go to your Expedia Receipt or your Delta SkyMile account to get the ticket number (if you entered your SkyMile number in your Expedia profile the ticket will automatically show up on your Delta Account)
Add your Skymile number to your Expedia profile. After I book a flight on Expedia, I will go to my Delta Account and make sure the flight shows up in the My Trips tab. That way I know Expedia confirmed my frequent flyer number and I will get my Delta Frequent Flyer miles.
You will get 2X the Ultimate Rewards Points for the flight. You can then use these points to earn free hotel stays (or a variety of other items) at Hyatt, Ritz Carlton, Marriott, IHG, etc I personally like to use the 1:1 transfer feature to Hyatt Gold Passport, car rental and las vegas because I can get the most value out from Ultimate Rewards from Hyatt. The transfer to Hyatt will allow you go get a free night at a luxury Park Hyatt Hotel for as little as 18,000 points.
You can use other cards for this strategy as well. Check out our Travel Rewards Credit Card section to see if there is a card that you would prefer to use for this Delta Quadruple Dip. There are a variety of cards that can work, the key is to use the one that will get you the biggest bang for your buck.
