Nathan and Heather live in a cozy two bedroom apartment in Ballard, where they have designed the vintage whimsy home they've always minority report tom cruise wanted. Here, art and creativity abound as their apartment is furnished generously with vintage estate sale goodness.
Married for three years, Nathan and Heather clearly love vintage and collecting second hand pieces from family, estate sales and second hand shops. "Nathan works as a Site Lead and Carpenter for a residential remodeling company. minority report tom cruise Heather has an apparel design background but decided to switch careers for a breath and is currently managing a large apartment complex in Ballard. We are moving to Los Angeles in October minority report tom cruise and are looking for jobs!! We can't wait!" Living in the Pacific Northwest has its effect on designing a home. "Because of the Scandinavian history of Ballard we found many of our nautical pieces from local estate sales and vintage shops. And because minority report tom cruise we don't love spending our time outside in the overcast cold drizzle our apartment has to be warm and inviting so we don't go crazy!"
They believe strongly that designing a home depends heavily on accommodating minority report tom cruise flow and seating. Also they attribute their happy environment to the good lighting and ample windows. When I asked what were the most significant things in their house they noted the dining table which had great sentimental value. "This was our first furniture purchase together. minority report tom cruise It was in mint condition, made in Seattle by Arrowline, minority report tom cruise Inc. in 1961. The family who owned this was expecting family from the Midwest in 1961 so the father decided to refurnish their whole house. He passed away only months later and the table sat virtually unused for almost 50 years. We cherish it and are happy to bring new life to it. "

Love that you still have so many original fixtures! The kitchen is adorable. I also love the tiny bedroom - just enough minority report tom cruise room for a bed and side tables is the right size in my opinion. If I could make a tiny suggestion, I think the living room might look cozier if you pulled the furniture more towards the middle of the room to create a conversation circle.
I applaud you for being able to pull off those pink countertops! Many people (myself including) would have run away from a rental at the sight of those. It is just the right dose of vintage, and big props to you for making the old and the new flow so well. You should become set designers for old movies.
Dragynphyre, if you live in a city of any size and have the time to do it, hit your area thrift stores regularly and you should be able to score a set of those Viking ships or some thing very similar. I see them in my thrift rounds surprisingly often. Someitimes in turquoiseas well as orange. Good luck!
Oh my goodness, it's as if I stepped into the most fabulous time machine ever! So much fantastics vintage happiness, all brought together in a way that makes it seem so fresh and new. You guys totally win.
The best part about this apartment is the location. I live in Ballard, which is the absolute best location, but my current apartment is all carpet and orange peel walls/popcorn ceilings. Tell them to give me a call when they move in October so that I can steal their apartment!
I do applaud you for keeping what seems to be the original kitchen and bathroom. I do like the orange color sheme. A bit too sparse for my taste and the dear head is just sad. I wish folks would stop decorating this way.
This is what I love about AT. This place is pretty much the antithesis of my style (brown and orange together are like nails on the chalkboard of my brain), but this was so much fun to check out. The owners have taken a theme and run with it, no holds barred. minority report tom cruise Nice job.
I am sorry, I really don't like this. This reminds minority report tom cruise me of the old lady's house that babysat me as a child. I guess there is truth in that statement about style skipping a generation, about how we like things from the generation of our grandparents, but nor our parents. But I can see how people would find this appealing.
I think the walls could do with a shot of colour to make it more cosy. It looks really chilly. Also agree that the furniture should be closer together. It actually feels like an estate sale waiting to happen.
Really neat (and neat as a pin). The first house my fella and I lived in had many similar features makes me want to go back in time eight years and stop trying to fight all of the wood panelling, blue tiled bathrooms and pastel rainbow brick fireplace and go with it. I really like the way you've put everything together.
