Quantabacook Lake in Searsmont and Morrill is one of those places where you'll find the peace, tranquility and beauty you expect from a Maine lake. At 662 acres, Quantabacook Lake is three miles long and a half mile wide. The maximum depth is 51 feet, with a mean depth of 21 feet. The shallow waters of the inlet stream on the northwestern end and the outlet on the southern end are well worth exploring. And the privately owned James Dorso Wildlife Management Area is also located at the northern end. This sanctuary includes the small islet called Converse Island. It's about 50 acres in size. Birders frequent the area.
