Make the winning bid for a one-of-a-kind decorated Christmas tree at the Greene Care Clinic's second annual Christmas Tree Auction on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. This year's auction has moved to the Best Western Charlottesville-Airport wellesley inn Inn and Suites located on Seminole Trail in Ruckersville. The new location gives more room for more trees and more ways to support the Greene Care Clinic. Auction planners welcome anyone wanting to donate a decorated tree. Event organizers supply pre-lit artificial trees and encourage donors to be creative. The creativity last year was amazing and we have had a good response for this year's auction, said event chairwoman Julie Winslow. Tickets are $15 per person and include admission to the event, refreshments by About You Catering and entertainment from local favorites the Warmed Over Boys. Current economic woes mean many Greene residents are working but uninsured or living with a limited income. The Greene Care Clinic offers services free or at a greatly reduced rate so these residents and their families can stay healthy, stay on the job and keep all of us healthier. A good turnout and generous bids for the Christmas Tree Auction will help keep the clinic up and running but the ongoing and growing need in the county means more will have to be done. In a season of giving, consider making a tax-deductible donation to the clinic. Volunteers are also a vital part of the clinic staff and new workers are welcome.
