MANHATTAN — Hours before the USS Intrepid got a front-row view of the historic flyover by its future tenant, the Enterprise space shuttle, it had to fend off an unexpected gatecrasher: a massive cruise ship that hit the side of the pier where the aircraft carrier is docked.

In SOME cruise lines you actually have to prove you know what bow and stern thrusters are before they hand you control of a nearly thousand-foot ship. I've lived most of my life near the Hudson River, and I've NEVER seen it so "choppy" that a competent helmsman couldn't control his ship. NEVER. In the middle of a freakin' HURRICANE the "chop" in the Hudson never reaches more than six INCHES.
