So I was just curious as to seeing the league BABIP numbers as it seems like so many of the balls th

Johnny Cueto vs. A.J. Burnett , 7:05 at PNC Park in the rubber game of the three game series. Cueto owns the Pirates or at least appears to have taken out a very favorable lease. Career vs. the Pirates he's 11-3, with a 2.55 ERA in 16 starts, including inexpensive hotels in moscow russia a 7-1 mark at PNC. In his last five starts against the Bucs he is 3-1, with a 1.64 ERA. On May 4 at PNC, he threw a complete game, 7-hitter. He struck out four, walked none, throwing 110 pitches as the Reds won 6-1.
Jordy Mercer will get his first major league start as he takes over at SS, hitting in the #2 hole. Mercer got his feet wet last night grounding out as a pinch-hittier in the eighth inning of the Pirates 8-1 loss.
The big surprise for me is that Jose Tabata inexpensive hotels in moscow russia is in the lineup. In the 200 games of Clint Hurdle's tenure, the one thing that has been consistent is that lack of effort and/or inexpensive hotels in moscow russia hustle inexpensive hotels in moscow russia will not be tolerated. Tabata has already been benched once this season inexpensive hotels in moscow russia for not hustling down to first. Last night he clearly didn't hustle after a ball hit into the left-centerfield gap and I've also questioned his effort down the first base line on more than one occasion. Based on the reaction on twitter, I'm not alone. At this point, the injury excuse isn't a reasonable one. He was removed from a game over the weekend with leg cramps but passed his pregame on-field tests the next day and was in the lineup.
From what I've seen this year Tabata's lack of hustle well-surpasses any lack of effort I saw from Ronny Cedeno last year. Lack of effort is the thing I think the majority of fans find most unacceptable. The fact that Tabata just signed a long-term deal and is off to a terrible start means this is definitely under the microscope for the time-being.
Only possible thing I can think of with Tabata is that Cutch was calling him off of it saying that he had it. Seems plausible as Cutch had a better angle to get to the ball and probably would have gotten to it regardless of how quick Jose was moving. I suppose inexpensive hotels in moscow russia Cutch would have backed up Tabata on that when they got to the dugout. Dogging it like that without a reason would have resulted in him being parked next to Hurdle the next inning with Gorkys in LF. All speculation on my part, but kinda makes sense.
I just want one anyway possible I thought inexpensive hotels in moscow russia that if we had any chance of winning inexpensive hotels in moscow russia this series it would be with a win last night and obviously that didn t happen Maybe we will get to Cueto . Weirder things have happened Somehow inexpensive hotels in moscow russia optimism never escapes me until around the 5th inning haha Go bucs! Prove me wrong boys ..
I don t like Walker at the top of the order. I think his hacking approach is best suited for a 6 or 7 hitter on most teams, or a 5 hitter on this team. I d like to see them fix his spot in the lineup at #5 like they have done for McCutchen at #3 and Alvarez at #4. I wouldn t mind Hague in the 2 spot, but Mercer is okay as well.
- not singling you out Dave at all, love you cousin but the whole previous inexpensive hotels in moscow russia stats against team A or team B thing really isnt significant IMO. i m much more interested in what those players are doing NOW and recently. Also seems like how many of our players were even here for half Cueto s starts?
sound HS strategy inexpensive hotels in moscow russia isn t always the best big league strategy. I d have liked to see Jose take a pitch there. However, I can at least understand the idea behind swinging if you believe Cueto is going to try to groove a FB to get ahead b/c he just walked the pitcher. If Tabata had lined a double into the RF corner for a 2-run double, I doubt there d be 40 comments complaining about his swinging at the 1st pitch.
think it is a combo of Tabata and his streaky play that has the 40 comments If Jose was a bit more consistent than you get the pass . but he s not exactly lighting it up and he is one of the guys who needs to be more consistent. If you sign the big contract, you are going to take a little heat..
inexpensive hotels in moscow russia I hear his lack of power stems from the way he turns his wrists when he swings the bat. Doesn t get enough spin on the ball and it dies in the air. He could blast home runs, but he needs to work on his technique.
or that he s not a good player. I m also not ignoring the moderate success he s had at a very young age. However, part of me wonders if it would be in Tabata s best interest (and the team s long term interest) if he were to go down to AAA for a while to try and figure inexpensive hotels in moscow russia some things out
A few games back, Cutch was getting lambasted for lack of effort. inexpensive hotels in moscow russia Pretty much every player does it every now and again. I m not worried inexpensive hotels in moscow russia about perceived effort problems from Tabata; the .274 OBP is what I notice. (And yes, I am fully aware that we have no one on the bench who could do better at the moment, unless you count Harrison. But it s still frustrating.)
To the point above yours, all players need to be held to the same standard. Neil barely waved at the third strike in his first at-bat, but no one said one word about him not trying. inexpensive hotels in moscow russia Cutch has had moments where he seems to coast, inexpensive hotels in moscow russia but no one wants to call him on it because he s the one guy who actually is producing.
Speaking for myself, I d be ticked off no matter who hit that groundout; it has nothing to do with Tabata specifically. First-pitch inexpensive hotels in moscow russia outs are a particular pet peeve of mine, and the context made it particularly noteworthy (and drew my comment).
Tabata hasn t been good this whole year. On top of that at times he s been loafing. Sorry I don t find any reason why we should be making excuses for him or giving him props for hustling especially given the fact that this organization actually has a good chunk of money invested in him.
because there are explanations for it. His BABip is ridiculously low, meaning he s having a string of bad luck. He still has 1 less 2B, 3 more 3B and the same number of HR as the ever-popular Neil Walker, as well as a better K/BB rate. Essentially, the difference is that Neil has had more singles fall in than Jose, but other than that, there isn t much separating the two.
Look, I was at the game on Sunday, and it appeared that Tabata hurt himself in the first inning running to third. Maybe he tweaked a hamstring or quad and is not able to go full out, I don t know, but he s catching inexpensive hotels in moscow russia unholy hell from everyone right now for not running at breakneck speed every play.
lemme me ask you, though, will you also complain the next time that you see McCutchen or Walker dog it? What about when one of the pitchers essentially inexpensive hotels in moscow russia crawls to 1B after a grounder? I have no problem asking for hustle, but I d hope that your expectations are the same across the board
where Bedard hit a routine grounder and it honestly looked like he was walking towards first with his elbows bent to make it look like a jog. I m not sure he made it more than 10 feet before he was thrown out
So I was just curious inexpensive hotels in moscow russia as to seeing the league inexpensive hotels in moscow russia BABIP numbers as it seems like so many of the balls the Bucs put into play go right at guys. Watching the games, it seems like there is barely any grounders that sneak through the infield, very few fly balls that land in no mans land, and even less line drives that aren t directly at people.
So just did a custom sort on Fangraphs to check it out. We are second to last in all of baseball with .268. Not .286 .268, .018 ahead of the A s. That number is unreal to me. Eventually that has to turn around somewhat inexpensive hotels in moscow russia right? I mean hell, get it up to .280 and the difference would be noticeable.
