yes...always...ALWAYS...check the vehicle for damage before leaving the lot. You can also help yours

Recently I went to Italy to attend to some important matters. I rented a car from a company called Auto Europa/Sicily by Car. When I arrived a Fiumicino I went to the rental counter and picked up the keys, declined compare rental car rates los angeles the insurance compare rental car rates los angeles and headed out to the car in the car park. I checked out the car and it had scratches in the paint on both sides from the front quarter panels to the rear of the car so I went back and had the clerk follow me to the car. He proceeded to mark on the check in check out receipt where the scratches were. Well, I didn't think any more of it and went along my merry way. Lo and behold a month later I get a letter from a brokerage company claiming that they were going to charge my credit card 771 euros for damages . So now, I contacted Am Ex and told them to stop payment.
The reason I'm telling compare rental car rates los angeles you thins is in checking out reviews of car rental agencies, it is apparent that Auto Europa is scamming compare rental car rates los angeles customers with this tactic. Luckily for me I had documentation that proved that the damage was existing. Of course the matter is not resolved yet but let this be a warning to those of you that travel to Italy and use this company for car rental. AVOID THEM!!! AUTO EUROPA IS A DISREPUTABLE CAR RENTAL COMPANY!!!!!
Excellent advice - even the reputable companies have rogue rental people (I've worked for a few - no comments please!). It's easier for the rental rep. to try to blame the next unsuspecting customer for damage he missed/didn't check on the previous damage control than it is to explain to his boss why they're stuck with a repair bill for 700 euros and no accident report.

yes...always...ALWAYS...check the vehicle for damage before leaving the lot. You can also help yourself if you use your cell to take pictures (with a date stamp) of any and all damage you see prior to leaving the car park. In some cases when you rent a vehicle compare rental car rates los angeles the office is closed and there is nobody around to verify the damage.........in that case you have no recourse but to take pictures with a date stamp to save yourself compare rental car rates los angeles from unscrupulous businesses and their practices.
from what i've read about some car rental companies and their insurance....the insurance will guard against most accidents, compare rental car rates los angeles however, it does not insure against damage from theft. as for your friend .....send him the bill. next time he'll learn to keep his fat yap shut.

yes...you can use your personal state side auto insurance for that, however, you have to advise your insurance agent what you are going to do and they might add arider (additional fee) to your claim seeing as it will be overseas. also, that will not keep the car rental company from charging you for damages if they occur. then you'll have to keep any receipts, invoices, and any other claim made against you for any payments against your account to be reimbursed by your insurance carrier......excluding any deductible, of course, and what your insurance company feels is the reasonable cost of the damages. in other words, what you will be reimbursed may differ greatly from what the rental company has charged you for repairs.
In my case Auto Europa is charging me over $1000 for what are superficial scratches compare rental car rates los angeles which more than likely can be buffed out with an orbital buffer and some rubbing compound. the sort of scratches one might find when parking to close to some bushes.
