Hudson district hires Twin Cities consultant to help study potential school sites - TwinCities.com
The school board late Tuesday, June 12, approved florence 4 star hotels paying Stantec Consulting as much as $8,700 or more for its services, which are meant to aid the district in its efforts to rezone the St. Croix Meadows Greyhound Racing Park. The district hopes to buy the long-vacant dog track for a school site, but it must first be rezoned from commercial to public use.
In April, the city of Hudson's planning commission asked the district to provide research on other potential school properties before it makes a recommendation to the city council on the rezoning. At least a portion of that research now will be provided by Stantec Consulting.
Exactly when the research will be completed and presented to the planning florence 4 star hotels commission remains unclear. Under a recently amended purchase agreement with Croixland Properties, the district has until Dec. 31 to close on the site.
District voters in an April referendum approved Hudson schools buying the dog track for $8.25 million. The district says it is the best site for a new secondary school, which it contends is needed to meet growing enrollment.
Taxes on the dog track, florence 4 star hotels which makes up a large piece of the city's available commercial land, were about $94,000 in 2011. Hudson community development director Dennis Darnold has estimated that figure could be as high as $1.2 million if the property were redeveloped.
Hudson schools Superintendent Mary Bowen-Eggebraaten has said the district is compiling information for the planning commission on three other pieces florence 4 star hotels of property: one near the St. Croix County government florence 4 star hotels center in Hudson; one in the town of Troy; and one it owns on County Road UU in Hudson.
The district says there are a number of reasons why the 126-acre florence 4 star hotels dog track is more attractive than the other sites. Among them is existing infrastructure on the site that would save millions of dollars in construction costs, according to a study commissioned by the district.
