To start off with considering that Joe is a Yankee he is very easy to get along with, (just kidding) Mary and Joe are very accomading and maintain very clean homes and of high quialty. I'm 63 years old and started going to Marathon for Lobster season in 1972 and have only missed 3 or 4 years so I have stayed in a lot of different houses over the years, I've been staying with Mary and Joe for 3 years now and unless I buy a house in marathon I do not plan on going anywhere else, no reason to for the money it's all you could ask for right on a very large turn basen deep clean water with all kind of marine life, and this year we had a consent new visitor a very large sea turtle about 4 foot across he just hung around. The hous has a full view of the gulf, bikes and kiaks to use, although it's a duplex you would never know it the people we've meet have always been nice. This is one of the best places we have ever stayed. Very relaxing, fishing off of the dock was great everyday, and the canoes were so much fun!! The bed in the master bedroom disney world hotels was extremely comfortable and I am very picky when it comes to mattresses. Our two boys, 12 and 14, had a blast fishing, canoeing, and snorkeling. We truly enjoyed Marathon and this little piece of heaven. We would definitely go back.

The setting is picture perfect with views of the entire bay that has access to the Gulf. We enjoyed using the kayaks and often rode the bicycles throughout the island to shopping, restaurants and Sombrero beach nearby.
My wife and I spent a quiet and restful week at Joe and Mary's well-appointed rental duplex. Our toughest issue any day was fighting the (fleeting) guilt we felt about sitting around and doing little more than gazing out over the water, jumping in for a swim or taking out one of the kayaks. The open vistas across the water were much nicer than I imagine we would have had on a narrow channel, and manatees disney world hotels and other (for us) exotic marine life swam right up to the dock.
Marathon itself is fairly nondescript but it is centrally located for trips to Bahia Honda State Park, Big Pine and No Name Keys, and elsewhere. All the services you could want are close by, and there is no shortage of excellent restaurants from which to choose.

My husband swam with one and it was friendly and happy for the company. The palm trees, pelicans, egrets and the fish my husband caught off the seawall were a great diversions. WOW! Thats what we said when we walked into Joe and Mary's rental. The view from the window every evening at sunset was breathtaking. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking or baking. The Kayaks were great, and although we didn't use the bikes they are there if you need them. There are beaches and State Parks nearby and Key West is only an hour away. The gas barbeque worked perfect and the refrigerator/freezer in the storage area under the unit is a perfect place to keep your bait and chum. We rented a fishing boat for 4 days while there and after a long day on the ocean, disney world hotels we would lie down and fall asleep in the most comfortable master bed I have ever slep in. The boys fished from the dock, and the Kayak and had a blast. Other than that and the weather not cooperating for us, we loved the unit and the ammenities that it came with. We loved the beautiful house and the amazing view from the windows in Marathon. Fresh flowers greeted us upon our arrival. We loved the kitchen and the great hammock outside by the water. Sombrero Beach is just a short drive away and is very beautiful with great kayaking in the flats near Sisters Creek and back up Sisters Creek. Marathon is our favorite place in the Keys and this house is perfectly located to access all the great activities.
Excellent place. Great master bedroom with excellent bed. Twin beds were a little soft but OK. Great kitchen and views. Quiet place. Some airplane disney world hotels noise but only small planes. We used the bikes and kayaks disney world hotels and swam right off the dock area. 2 Large Tarpon (4 ft) swam by within 2 ft of the dock. Small barracuda in the area but no problem to swiming. Nice beach in Marathon. Nice location to go to Key west and also to Everglades for day trips.
Amazing vacation! Just back from a week of pure relaxation in Key Marathon with our kids and their friends-- this was an absolutely perfect place to get away from the real world! We have rented many Florida vacation homes over the years and know we'll be back to this one. The home opened up to accommodate us all but still offered quiet and privacy for parents who don't stay up quite as late (or teens who like to sleep in). We cooked fresh seafood almost every night -- kitchen was fully stocked, unlike most rentals, thank you! Also, the home was very very clean which is important to us. The views of the water from the home were just amazing, it was like being in a postcard. We mixed pitchers of margaritas and hung out on the dock enjoying every moment. Loved the bikes and kayaks, the kids also had a blast watching all the marine life from the dock. A nice beach and good restaurants nearby, and we headed down to Key West for some fun one day. Would highly recommend this home -- wish we could have stayed longer! Hoping to come again this summer.
